Difference between motor and generator

Motor vs generator

The motor is that electronic device that changes electrical energy into mechanical energy. The generator is a device that converts mechanical energy into electrical energy.

What is Motor

The motor is that electronic device that changes electrical energy into mechanical energy.

Which works on Michael Faraday’s law. That is electromagnetic induction.

There are various types of use of motor like in Fan, Washing machine, laptop, CD (Compact Disk), etc.

There are two types of Motor:-

1. Ac motor – Which works in ac (alternating current).

2. Dc motor – Which works in dc (direct current).

In DC motor split ring and in AC motor slip ring are used for reversing electric current.

Uses of an electric motor :

There are many uses of the electric motor in our daily life like water pump, fan, cooler, washing machine, etc. it plays a major role in our daily life. Which makes life easier.

What is Generator

The generator is a device that converts mechanical energy into electrical energy. Which works on the principle of electromagnetic induction.

There are many uses of a Generator to fulfill our different types of purpose.

It is used in dynamo, Turbine, etc.

Difference between motor and generator

There are also 2 types of Generators like a motor.

1. DC current motor  – Which gives DC current.

2. AC current motor  – This gives AC current.
